About Us

The Background

The Work Readiness Institute (WoRI) was established in the year 2022 in responseto a growing concern shared by employers, educators, and policymakers acrosslabour markets: the persistent gap between academic qualification and workplace performance among graduates.

While higher education institutions continue to produce graduates with relevant technical knowledge, many employers report that entry-level professionals often lack the behavioural competencies required to function effectively in modern workenvironments. Challenges related to time management, accountability, communication, teamwork, adaptability, and professional ethics frequently affect graduate productivity, increase onboarding time, and place additional training burdens on organizations.

This disconnect between learning and performance has contributed to rising graduate unemployment and underemployment, even in sectors experiencing skills shortages.

The Work Readiness Institute was founded to address this challenge through a structured, discipline-based approach to workforce preparation. Recognizing that employability is not solely determined by knowledge, but by consistent professional behaviour, WoRI focuses on equipping graduates with the foundational disciplines required to perform, collaborate, and grow within real workplace contexts. Through its flagship Certified Work-Ready Graduate (CWRG) Programme, the Institute provides a comprehensive pathway that combines:
- Discipline Learning Modules
- Performance-Based Certification
- Supervised Workplace Practice

This integrated model enables graduates to transition from academic environments into professional roles with demonstrable readiness, ensuring they are not only qualified, but capable of contributing meaningfully from their first day at work.
